We spent the most amazing weekend at the Franschhoek Boutique Hotel in Franschhoek recently and it seriously ticked all the boxes for us. It was a weekend filled with good wine, yummy food, beautiful views and total relaxation – exactly what we needed.
The Franschhoek Boutique Hotel is situated smack-bang in the middle of the charming little town and is less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town. Nothing beats being able to knock off work on a Friday afternoon and arriving at your weekend destination in time to watch the sun set, settle in and enjoy a bit of down-time before heading out to dinner.

The décor and style of Franschhoek Boutique Hotel is right up my alley and just another reason why I prefer a boutique style hotel to a stock standard hotel chain. The creative and quirky details really left a lasting impression. There are six, 25sqm rooms to choose from and each room has its own unique design. It’s a lovely touch and I love that each guest gets to enjoy a different experience. It’s also a great incentive to return for a second, or third visit.
We stayed in the Hennessy room which was lovely. The bed was so, so, so comfortable. I have fallen in love with king-size (next investment for sure), the bath-tub was heavenly and the fireplace was a dream for the chilly winter weather. Our room came fully equipped with a king size bed, soft linen, bath tub, shower, heated floors, private fireplace, air-con, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar fridge and wine cooler, gorgeous bath and body products and free wi-fi. We had everything we needed, and more.
Breakfast was served in the main lounge / reception area each morning and there was honestly a little something for every tastebud. From a table filled with fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cereals and fresh juice to an extensive menu of hot dishes including eggs benedict, full English, French toast and even a vegetarian option. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and full of flavour. A good breakfast and a hot cuppa really sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Breakfast of champions – full cooked English.
We spent our weekend drinking red wine, eating far too much food, chatting, laughing and just chilling. It was wonderful. The Franschhoek Boutique Hotel is a little home away from home and we will definitely visit them again soon. There are many more adventures to be had in the beautiful valley.
